The Sportfishing Capital of the World
Running far into the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, the Florida Keys is a haven for anglers. A stretch of bridges, shorelines, pristine flats, coral reefs, sandbars and channels everywhere you look. The clear blue-green waters of the Atlantic and the greener colors of the Gulf of Mexico go as far as you can see. Explore the ocean waters – troll the reefs or the flats of the Florida Bay or catch tuna in the Gulf Stream.
Don’t forget about the Humps!
Fishermen love the Florida Keys’ fishing humps, a bunch of seamounts rising up from the depths of the ocean creating a natural habitat full of larger predatory fish and colorful marine life. The world famous Islamorada Hump, the most famous fishing spot in South Florida, lies approximately 15 miles offshore and guarantee’s a great fishing experience.
Blackfin Tuna & Amberjack are plentiful at the humps. Other fish commonly found there are Dolphin, Wahoo, Blue Marlin, Queen Snapper and big sharks.
Our Captains Determination
The bottom line is we love to catch fish! We are not satisfied with the bare minimum and just being average. We are not “clock watchers”! Simply stated, we are more concerned with you having a great catch and an adventure of a life time. We would prefer to have you as a repeat customer rather than only fishing with have you fish with us for a day. Our business is built around repeat customers and referrals. Hard work and dedication to our craft undoubtedly reflect on our level of success! We refuse to just go out for a boat ride, and we will stop at nothing to ensure you get your money’s worth and then some. MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE WILL HAVE FUN. We will do everything in our power to ensure you have a truly incredible day on the water!
Florida Keys Fishing Charters
Since we are in the “Sport fishing Capital of the World”, you can expect to have a great time while going fishing! Species vary season by season, so depending on what time of year you are coming, the fish we catch will vary. Take a look at the types of trips we offer, and then give us a shout and let us know what you would like to target. We are always here and happy to answer any questions that you may have!
Florida Bay and The Gulf of Mexico
Fishing in the Florida Bay and the Gulf of Mexico is very exciting and action-packed! There are many different species we fish for in these areas including Groupers, Snappers, Mackerels, Cobia, Permit, and sharks of all species.
This type of fishing is generally done on anchor, but on occasion, we will drift or sight fish for certain species that we are targeting. Due to the nature of the “green” or “dirtier” water, this type of fishing can present some of the best top-water and sight fishing opportunities for Cobia and Permit.
Another bonus to this trip is that the areas we fish are very spread out, which means the fishing pressure is at a minimum. This is a very “conditions” based fishery, which means it doesn’t always make sense to make the run into the “back”.
This type of fishery is at its best beginning in October and running through early June. It is also a great option when the weather blows hard out of the East to Southeast, as the island chain acts as a barrier to the wind…
Islamorada Offshore Fishing
When we use the term “offshore”, we are referring to Gulfstream fishing, which usually is found in depths of 300 feet or greater. This would also be known as “Deep Sea” fishing. In Islamorada, this means that you are typically at least 8 miles from shore, which puts you almost out of sight of land.
There are a variety of species as well as tactics used when fishing offshore. The most common fish being pursued are Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi), Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Skipjack Tuna, and Amberjack; However, there are a variety of billfish lurking in these waters such as Sailfish, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Spearfish, and Swordfish.
It really doesn’t matter what month of the year it is every one of these fish are present. Although, some months of the year we feel one or more of these species aren’t targetable the possibility is always there. Just ask Capt. Kiki about what types of fish are here and when would be the best time to target them.
A variety of sharks can also be found in the same waters offshore. The most common sharks found in the waters offshore are the Dusky Shark, Tiger Shark, Hammerheads, and Mako Shark.
