Hey gang, Capt. Anthony here with our weekly fishing report!
OFFSHORE: The Black fin tunas are All Lit Up right now! We have been killing the big BFT’S right now on the humps with live pilchards. We have been live bait chumming them and watching them explode 10 feet behind the motors! Its quite a site to see! They have been ranging from 10-15 pounds with the occasional 20 pounder. The mahi-mahi fishing has been on the slow side with a few being caught on the weed lines in 600-1000 feet of water. The water temperature is still extremely hot so hopefully they will be in full force once it cools down. We have been lucky to find some nice mahi on pieces of debris ranging from 8-15 pounds. There have also been a lot of blue marlin sightings on the debris trying to eat the schoolie mahi! How Awesome is that?!?!? We should have an other month or so of good offshore fishing, and i see it getting better as it cools down.
REEFS and WRECKS: The bottom fishing is superb as well right now. We have been targeting alot of vermillion and yellow eye snappers on the reefs and wrecks in 200-300 feet. They have been in the 2-5 pound range, while catching them 2 to 3 at a time! The mutton snappers have been biting as well. We have been fishing for them in 100-180 feet a water. Hopefully with the next moon they will be biting their fins off! The yellow tail snapper fishing is really good too! Right now, they are better off the edge of the reef in 60-80 feet ranging from 2-5 pounds.
There is so much great fishing right now in Islamorada, the only thing that’s slow is the tourism! This is the perfect time to come down and go fishing!!!
Stay tight and get tight,
